Feb FTP test

2/9/10 Easy 20 minute jog home from the office, then on the bike for the FTP test. I was nervous about this one.

15 minute warmup
2x20min with a 2 minute easy spin between, shooting for highest average for the 42 minutes
Results
Pnorm = 206 Watts
Pavg = 205 Watts

Died a little bit at the end. Was trying to hold 210 to 215 on the monitor...the number you see on the computer vs the resulting average always seems to be about 5 to 7 Watts off. So when I get outside and want to average 170 watts, I should be looking for 175 on the monitor.

Last test was late Dec.
Pnorm = 195 watts
Pavg = 193 watts

Using Pnorm ... that's a 5.6% increase in 6.5 weeks. I didn't get a good test at the beginning of the out season because the powertap wasn't calibrated correctly. But last year at this time I tested at 202. I know for a fact that I'm riding in a higher gear than last year. I'm not trusting that my powertap is giving me consistent readings against last year. At least that's what I'm going with. I'll know more when I get outside and racing again. But right now, I'm feeling pretty good about my ability to go faster than last year.

Racing is the ultimate test.
