Not sure what I'm doing with this blog right now.

today's workout, 2 hour run, lots of wind, 13.5 miles, pretty relaxed. The last 10 minutes was tough because of the head wind. Other than that...no worries.

Nine weeks out from Ironman. Thinking a lot about it of course. My confidence is on shaky ground after IM Canada last year and then my DNF at IM Arizona. To help deal with this I will do the follwoing:

1. Build as much fitness as possible
  • Bike like a crazy man for the next 7 weeks. Lots of time in the aero position, lots of longish rides with intervals near the end
  • Perform a 2+ hour run every other week. focus on posture and turn over
  • Include fast running during the week. mile repeats and tempo efforts
  • Swim AT LEAST 3 times per week. One session will include long pull intervals
2. Have a plan for Race day
  • Develop a simple, thoughtful plan for race day (I have the experiences to do this)
  • Provide access to extra clothing at special needs and on bike
3. Work, don't Judge.
  • Keep the faith that the training will bring the fitness and confidence I'll need come raceday.
  • Early season races should help here
4. Maintain your equipment and test all well before race day.
  • only new things left to get are tires
  • set up bike in "race day" trim for at least the last race rehearsal workout.
More on this later....the short version of all of this is "Calm the hell down and do what I know needs done"
