Hill reps and Motivation

30 min run yesterday with 3x 25 sec hills reps. Can't say I was eager for this workout. It was sunny out which was good, but the wind was cold. And I was stiff and creaky from Sunday's long workout. As I headed out the door and jogged to the hill, I gave myself a talkin' to. Actually, I tried to put words to why I was doing this workout. What I settled on made it pretty easy to get through the hills and get back home.

"A great race in Canada is made today"

Sort of cliche I know, but it's what I've been needing lately to get rolling again. While none of my workouts these next 12 weeks are long, almost everyone of them includes some pain and discomfort in the form of LT or VO2Max type work.

If i skip these workouts and "just go run", I'm looking at a repeat of last year. Over the winter is the time to get faster. Raise the top end now. A rising tide raises all ships. Then take this higher top end into the Spring and add distance.
