This workout is the hardest one I do. Not because the physical work is so tough (which it is). But because I don't think I belong out there with the fast kids. The fast kids are like a club. And I haven't earned membership yet. So instead of 4 x 1 miles (at half marathon pace (which for the fast kids is faster than my 5k pace) I did 800s, 400s, and some 200s. I think it ended up being a good workout for me. I certainly felt pretty worked from it. One good thing the FKC (Fast Kids Club) does, is gets me out early on a Saturday. It was 25 degrees Saturday morning, no way I would have gone out on my own. Certainly not to run at 5k pace on a track. So here's to the FKC. Maybe someday I'll be quick enough (and secure enough) to submit my application.
4x200 - 47 to 49s
4x800 - 3:20 down to 3:18 Hr in the high 170s
5x400 - ~1:35, fastest was last one 1:32
3xdiagonals
TSS score of 98

Dude. There is always somebody faster. Always. There ain't an application because the enrollment is perpetual. Along with the rejection letters. Just keep plugging. You get to that next club and then you want to be in the next club. You run sixes then you want to run 5:50's. You run 5:50's and then you want to run 5:40's. Unless you win double Olympic gold, set a WR ... it never ends. Blessing and a curse. Embrace the journey.
As you typically say KIA KAHA.
GZ is 100% right.. forget that crap dude. When I was fit as hell and thinking I was hot shit- Alan Culpepper made me feel like a slug. I would be dying to just hang on his easy recovery runs. Seriously. The fact that you're out there putting in the work is the equalizer and makes you part of the "club".. I hope you keep coming!

ps- The word verification was "cilly".. stop being cilly.
