Still Congested ....

but moving again. Ran today with the folks from the Office Bolder Boulder group. Or the "Unofficial McKesson Corporate Team" :) Just 4 miles, but it was great to get outside and move. We've been having some crazy weather here. Today was chilly at 60 degrees, for the last two days it's been in the 70s. Pretty crazy considering it's the dead of winter and all. February and March will surely have more snow and cold, but for now everyone is enjoying the break.

Aside from the cold I've been fighting, training is going well. I'm holding on my run speed on relatively few miles per week and hitting it hard on the bike. I'll test again on the bike next week to see if there's been any improvement in the last month. I tried to complete the test Tuesday, but between being sick and spending an hour at the velodrome, I was pretty spent. I made it through the 42 minute though, so that alone makes me feel decent.

Rough plan. Drink the Endurance Nation Kool-Aide:
Feb/March - Keep working the get Fast thing. Improving my 1 hour threshold power on the bike (FTP) and my 5k times.
Late March, early April - short break, mental and physical. ~2 weeks
April, May, June - Add Far to the Fast. Increase the time running and riding. complete a 2 week swim focus (swim 10 times in 2 weeks). start spending more time at race effort
June, July, August - Practice race execution. spend more time at race pace, learning to fuel and be patient.

To get through the rest of my cold, I figure I can give the race bike a overhaul, clean, lube, adjust, new handlebar tape and such. It's not working out, but at least it's something that helps get me ready for when I'm healthy again.
