20 and Holding

Ran the Oatmeal Festival 5k in Lafayette this morning. Much nicer out than for last weeks run. It went really well. It's a little bit of a hilly course, nothing drastic, just a few long grades. Hit 19:57...again :) I'd certainly like to see an improvement here, I've been right at 20 minutes for a few months now. But honestly, I'm only running 20 to 25 miles a week. So on three runs a week, a 20 minute 5k is pretty good for me. Heck, 20 minutes is good for me no matter how much I run :) But as I want to see a bump in this, I'm going to add another run or two a week and see if that's enough to push me into the middle 19s. I know it's not going to produce a huge advance, but even another 10 seconds a mile would be nice to see.

All in all a fun day. My GF ran as well, new PR for her and her second race ever. I asked her how it was and she answered, "Well, I didn't hate it" LOL

The treat after the race is a giant oatmeal bar. I had almonds, macadamia nuts, chocolate chips and peanut butter in mine. Keri went with the fruits.

Kia Kaha!

Don't let the additional workouts interfere with your velodrome work. Good for Keri as well. It is, after all, a different kind of fun than curling up with a book and hot chocolate.
