Wahoo....and Things to Ponder

Had another great week in Colorado. 37 miles of running for the week. Great weather, got a car load of stuff to Goodwill, had a fun date-night with my gf. On Sunday I ran in the Panicing Poultry 5k at the res. Almost 800 people! Crazy number for just another weekend 5k.

The running highlight of the week was running from the new running store in Louisville, SolePepper. Why was a group run a highlight? Cause it really got me thinking about my attitude. I was able to run with Lucho and chitchat a bit about attitude and self imagine. This is something I struggle with. If you read back in my blog a little you'll see that pretty easily. Being out there, seeing all those people who came out. Watching folks say hi and greet each other, sharing stories, catching up, it really got me thinking about how I view the sprot and myself as an athlete.

On Sunday I went out to the Boulder Res to run a 5k. It was a huge race, almost 800 runners. My goal was to run an even race and see where that lead me time wise. I was shocked at the end, when I looked back at my splits. 6:24.7, 6:24.1, 6:24.8 and I forget the last point one, but it added up to a 19:57. So I hit my goal of even splits :) With that course though, with the hill at the beginning, even splits mean I ran a tad too hard at the beginning. But I'm ok with that. I hit the turn around at 10:01 and was feeling alright. There was a guy just ahead of me who was starting to fade a tad, so I went after him. It felt good to have the confidence to push. Ended up 52nd overall (of 786), 14th/82 in the 30-39, but I would have been 4th/67 in the 40-49, which is next year's age group.

So, I think I'm finally okay with saying I'm not in the middle of the pack anymore. Time for a new blog title (and attitude) If anybody reads this thing, I'm open to suggestions :)
