Sat - 2500yd swim at N. Boulder Rec. It was a hoot being back in a yard pool. It's only 2.5 yards shorter than the meter pool at Lakeshore, but what a difference.
Met up with the club and head up to Jamestown with them. Most turned off to Ward. Finished up solo. Sort of rode too hard though, in that in-between pace. The goal for this weekend's ride is 4 hrs EASY Z1 and Z2 only. I did get some good threshold work on the way up to Jamestown though as planned. total of 2:30, 42 miles
Sunday - Fort Morgan Tinman. First let me say that Fort Morgan feels like it's in Kansas :)
Time trial swim start. 2 loops of a 500m course. Goal was to just stay relaxed and cruise. I hit 16:30 at the beach. Got a little frantic at the turn of the second loop, but got myself to settle down again.
bike - This is the fun part. It's a 36 mile bike, point to point. You leave the lake, head south for a bit, turn west into the wind for maybe 6 miles and then do a u turn. From there it's all just ever so slightly down hill and you have a tail wind the WHOLE way! 36 miles in 1:34, 23 mph average. I've raced here before and remember the course being super fast. My goal was to sit in Z2, bottom of Z3, half ironman pace. There were a few stretches were I was sitting on 25 mph in Z2 thinking that this must be what Craig (and the other fast guys) feel like all the time. :)
run, too loops of a 5k course. all dirt. Ran pretty well. negative split the run which was the goal. Averaged 7:30s for 46:30. Which is less that fast I know, but considering 2 weeks ago, I went 7:12 at a sprint race, is pretty decent.
14th of 44 men. Still living life securely in the middle of the pack.
