Monday 2/18 - Wahoo! Legs are back

Last week was a needed break. Regardless of what happens with the run on Saturday, I'm in a good place. The leg is feeling good. My head seems in a good place. And I'm exciting about digging in and adding the bike and swim. It's beautiful outside, ~40, clear skies but windy (steady 24mph). I headed up to the Mesa. The outside loop, 4.7 miles, in 40 minutes. This included one short walk break and stretches of jogging. I never felt stressed, just enjoyed cruising along.

The Snowman Stampede is on Saturday. I'm in for the 20 miler. It will be an experience I'm sure. When I started training back in the fall, I had all sorts of numbers in my head. They are still there, but now instead of dominating the thoughts, they are way in the back ground. For this race, my goals will be all about the mind and heart. Harder to measure for sure. But these are the goals that truly matter. My goals for the week and race day :
  • Run with Patience
  • Run with Integrity
  • Let any negative thoughts that come to mind pass right on by
  • Enjoy the feeling of running. Listen to my breath, feel my heart beat, hear my footsteps.

Sooo ... suggestion. It might be total crap but you can do with it what you like.

Maybe approach the 20 miler as a race of thirds ... the first third just be really easy. Second third go to a tempo workout. Last third race.

Or ... go out hard, pick it up and finish strong.

Live it.
