2011 Plans and thoughts and so forth

First a quick recap....2010....one of my best and not so great years at the same time.

Now, I'm limiting this lists to triathlon and racing ans such...not my whole life. On the scale of a whole life is was a great year. Keri said yes! We are buying a house and we are healthy. So...back to racing/tri

Made the age group podium at the Summer Open Sprint (with Scott and Dirk) and at the 5430 Sprint (with Scott and Win). Third in my age group at the 5430 sprint is probably my best result ever. Finished 10th in my AG at the Boulder 70.3 with a Pr of 4:44. I also won a race. The Race for Your Cause Sprint in June I was the first to cross the finish line. Oh, and a race PR at Lubbock 5:00:00 on a nice bike ride and solid run in the heat.

For the not so great...there was Ironman. In Canada, I got caught in the cold rain on the Yellow Lake climb and decent and it froze me. I've never been that cold...ever. I pulled it together and finished in 11:05. Then I got the chance to race in Az at the end of December. I ended up with a cold and strep two weeks before the race. Come race day I was over the cold, but certainly not ready to race. It was cold and raining again! And it lead to my first DNF at the ironman distance. It took me a bit to get past it, but I'm ready to move on and get rolling again.

For 2011.....Major goals:
Have fun training and racing my guts out*
A perfectly executed day at IMCdA

* 'training and racing my guts out' = smart, consistent, productive training and well executed race day plans. And when the time calls for it, embracing the pain.

I'm going to try blogging again as well. I think the transparency is good for me. Granted only three others read my blog :) But it's still about putting it out there.

12 weeks of get Fast! Improving my FTP on the bike and my 5k time.
3 weeks of Transition (and resting of Get Fast block)
12 weeks of Ironman focus (add Far to my Fast)

Improve bike equipment (lighter power meter, lighter bars, better fit)
Improve training consistency
