Feeling fit and ready. Gear is packed up with bike and is getting dropped off today. Feeling good about this one. I have a pretty solid understanding of my limits this season and have been racing to them well. Predicting a finish time is always more a guess than science. There are too many things out of ones control (wind, heat, flat tires, etc)....but here's what I'm thinking
The overall plan is to stay in my bubble until mile 18 of the run.
Race my race, not others until mile 18. If the bike is fast for me, and the running is going well, and that places me at mile 18 of the marathon in 9:01 or better....then it's a RACE :) As they say...all bets are off :)
Swim: Calm, smooth, find some feet and enjoy. 1:05
T1: Slow is Smooth, and Smooth is fast. <4 min
Bike: Easy first hour, find the other F4 guys. Calm, Relaxed until the out and back, then work it home. Power average = 150 watts, time ???? really don't know...could be 5:45 and could be as fast as 5:25 (based on B70.3) I think 5:30 is a safe estimate.
T2: Slow is Smooth, and Smooth is fast. <4 min
Run: Easy first 6 miles ~8:30/mile. then settle in toll mile 20. Run time 3:35.
So that's 10:20. But really, any finish time under 10:43 (current PR) will be nice :)
If racing in "my bubble" puts me on the run course at 6:30 into the race, then I'm on the Kona bubble. Then the next check point would be the half way of the run at 8:18...next check point is mile 18 in 9 hours...then it's Game On. I need to stay at "My Pace" until then though.
We'll see how it goes :)
